SUMMARY:Energy and Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:In Sub-Saharan Africa\, most countries are still developing and without reliable sustainable energy. The provision of reliable clean renewable energy is not only nature positive\, but also reduces the 400 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions emitted annually by South Africa. Using success gained from previous solar projects that we supported or report on\, we offer opportunity to master some fundamentals and specifics required to successfully commission microgrids and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. \nThe adoption of Solar Power is in line with UN SDG7\, since modern clean energy is becoming a cornerstone of decarbonising economies and providing daytime energy assurance. Solar power can reach where the current grid cannot reach due to the cost of transmission lines. \nTarget Group\nSHEQ managers\, facilities managers\, CIOs\, finance managers government officials\, project managers\, lawyers\, engineers\, ESG specialists and auditors. \nContents\n \n\n\n\nCurrent and future state of energy use in Sub-Saharan Africa.\nWhat does Scope 1\, 2\, 3 greenhouse gas emissions mean.\nHow to plan for Net Zero outcomes\nCase studies of successful Solar Farms for how to select the right panel and inverter.\nExploration of net zero goals and South Africa’s Climate change act 22 of 2024.\nEquipment selection and quality standards.\nReview project construction techniques to install within timelines for data centres\, farms\, buildings.\nExploring maintenance planning.\nDay 1 starts with project assessment\, finance trends\, design factors\, and carbon credit calculations.\nDay 2 covers natural capital management\, Climate Change Act 22 of 2024 and Paris Agreement\nDay 3 covers maintenance strategies\, energy reporting\, and global best practices for sustainability.\n\n\n\nOutcomes \nAfter completing this course\, the participant will be able to: \n\nAnalyse Sub-Saharan Africa’s energy landscape\, Scope 1-3 emissions\, and carbon credits.\nEvaluate microgrid systems\, plus optimal solar panel and inverter selection and project structure.\nAssess projects on policies\, regulations\, and sustainable financing\, including GSSB+ bonds.\nReview construction techniques for timely completion and develop maintenance plans for sustainability.\nIntegrate carbon credits with energy projects like solar\, manage natural capital\, and ensure quality compliance\n\nDuration \n3 days. In-person\, UJ on Empire\, Johannesburg. \nCost \nR 9\,999
